Dave Hager
Managing Director
Dave Hager, PharmD, FASHP, brings extensive hospital and health system pharmacy, healthcare and leadership experience to Visante and its clients. Dave's deep experience across the continuum of care and his innovative approach to high-performing pharmacy help clients elevate their programs.
Before joining Visante, Dave was the Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services at the University of Wisconsin (UW) Health in Madison, Wisconsin. In this role, he was responsible for the leadership of clinical pharmacy patient care services across the continuum of care (inpatient and ambulatory), focusing on delivering financial value through interconnectedness with revenue-generating pharmacy services and improving patient care outcomes.
In addition, he has extensive experience in transitions of care, solid organ transplantation, staff development, and professional advancement. His professional advancement role included coordinating the health system's fourteen residency training programs and directing the system's strategic relationship with the UW School of Pharmacy.
Dave's career has focused on bringing innovation to clinical practice models, expanding learners' and pharmacists' professional and scholarly success, reducing the total cost of care, and elevating the pharmacy profession at local and national levels.
Dave also served as a Clinical Associate Professor at the UW School of Pharmacy, where he coordinated and taught many elective classes. He was also co-founder of the Leadership in Health System Pharmacy Course, helping to inspire student interest in leadership careers.
Dave is a prolific writer and speaker in the pharmacy industry, where he is a sought-after expert in pharmacy practice and workforce optimization, strategic planning, workforce wellbeing, and leadership. Dave's leadership has extended to many professional organizations, including the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (PSW), the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), and the Vizient University Health System Consortium Pharmacy Network. Dave's professional recognitions include Pharmacy Times Health System Next Generation Pharmacist of the Year, the PSW Pharmacist of the Year, UW Pharmacy Alumni Association's Young Alumnus of the Year, ASHP Pharmacy Forecast Panelist, ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders Director-at-Large, and Vizient University Health System Consortium Pharmacy Network Professional Development and Workforce Committee Chair and Executive Committee Member.
Dave earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin and completed residency training at UW Health.
